Feeling like your makeup routine is a little outdated? Or maybe you're looking to give yourself a more youthful look? Our viewer Jayne, who has been doing the same makeup routine since she was 16, would definitely say so. That’s why we called in beauty pro Mally Roncal to give Jayne a major makeup makeover, and share her top tips for women over 50 for all of you at home. Plus, she even includes some of her products recommendations from her makeup line, Mally Beauty

1. Look for a "more moisturizing moisturizer."

"When you are looking for creams, you definitely want to look for things like vitamin C,  hyaluronic acid and collagen that will really help your skin to look hydrated and moisturized," says Mally.

2. Don't be afraid of foundation.

Many women over 50 think of foundations as being thick and goopy, as that’s the kind that was available when they were younger. But, Mally says that has changed! She used her "Stress Less Foundation" on Jayne, which she recommends because it combines the benefits of skincare with a great foundation.

"Another little tip about foundation in your 50s and beyond is you don't have to put it all over your face. Just put it where you need it," she adds.

3. Your brows are your secret weapon.

"Believe it or not, when you do your brows right, I always call them your army of anti-aging soldiers because they really can lift your face and open up your eyes. Take your brows and brush them up. Then, we're going to fill [them] in. Finally, use a little brow gel to lift everything and hold it up," she says.

4. Use a shadow stick to give you a more open-eye effect.

"As we age, especially, some of us are just born with hooded eyelids, which means that the skin underneath the eyebrow falls down over your lash line. You're not going to put it in your crease because you technically don't have a crease. You're going to create the crease for yourself. That's going to give you the look of a more open-eye effect," Mally explains.

5. When it comes to concealer, less is more.

"I like to use concealer in 4 secret places: on the inner corners of your eyes, outer corners of your eyes, either sides of your nose, and either sides of your mouth. These four secret places are going to help you look like you've had an instant mini face-lift," she says.

6. You must wear blush.

"If you are over 50, you must wear blush. It instantly makes you look fresh and makes you look awake. As we age, we lose color in our face. Just tap it on the apple of the cheek and then blend up towards the cheekbone," she adds.

7. Enhance your lips with lip liner and plumping gloss.

"Lip liner is back and better than ever. Take a lip liner that mimics the look of your lip tone and enhance your natural lip color and [make] it look a little bit fuller. Then, apply a plumping gloss—which will give you great color and plump your lips," says Mally.

8. Switch to creamier products for foundation, blush, and eyeshadow

"Our skin gets more dry and textured as we age, and powders will show that more. The exception is if you have very oily skin," she explains.

9. Choose a blush color between pink and peach

"It’s universally flattering. Go with a coral-y pink. It'll mimic a youthful glow!" Mally says.

10. Know the difference between shimmer and glitter.

"I personally love shimmer, but glitter is bigger and it's not flattering for us! If you're not sure whether a product is shimmery or glittery, do the sunshine test! Put it on your hand and go out in the sunshine! If it looks like a disco ball, it's not the one for you. If it looks like you're just glowing, it's a winner," she says.
