Even though it seems like swimsuit prices are always climbing, celebrity stylist Micaela Erlanger promises you can look like a million bucks in your swimwear without breaking the bank.
So we had twin viewers who are all on a budget try trendy bathing suits that are almost identical — except for their prices. (And most of our audience guessed that the more affordable suits were the expensive ones — watch in the video above!)
Shop all the looks below. (Micaela notes some pros for the pricier suits — so we found those for you, too, if you're in the mood to splurge!)
RED ONE-PIECE SWIMSUIT
SAVE: coscoach Womens High-Waisted Bikini Spaghetti Strap Tie-Knot Front Cutout High Cut One-Piece Swimsuit ($20.99)
"It's showing a little bit more skin. It's better for lounging, but it's still durable," Micaela says. "It's made from polyester, which is what competitive swimsuits are made from. So it's going to hold up in chlorine and against color fading."
SPLURGE: Mara Hoffman Kia One Piece ($275)
"It's a higher waist silhouette and the stitching on the inside is actually much tighter, so it's going to hold up better if you're more active on your vacation," Micaela explains. "Also, it's made from a very special material, which is made from a sustainable recycled material that holds you in all the right places. It uses recycled fishing nets, if you can believe it. So you're splurging, but you're doing better for the environment."
(FYI, a couple sizes are on sale right now at Saks.)
PLAYFUL TWO-PIECE (with tassels!)
SAVE: Heymiss Womens High-Waisted Bikini Set Stripe Tassel Halter Two-Piece Swimsuit ($29.99)
"The tassels are really going to hold up well in a suit like this," the celeb stylist explains. "They're not going to fray in the water, and it's a more supportive top."
SPLURGE: Tularosa Elias Top ($118 $78) & Tularosa Elias Bottom ($110 $49)
"On the more expensive suit, the stripes are going to line up nicer," Micaela says. "This is probably a better suit for lounging, getting a tan, maybe not going in the water — because the tassels are more fragile."
BLACK ONE-PIECE SWIMSUIT
SAVE: ZINPRETTY One Piece Bathing Suit Tummy Control Off Shoulder Swimsuits Flounce Ruffled Tankini ($19.99 – $30.99)
"It has this really flattering ruching across the midsection," Micaela explains, "so it's going to give you an extra flattering shape."
SPLURGE: Trina Turk Women's Off Shoulder Ruffle Bandeau One Piece Swimsuit ($85 – $128)
"This silhouette has an arm band, which is going to give you a little more support," the celebrity stylist says. "If you're running around and super active, maybe this is the better suit for you."
