While all brides have a lot to worry about leading up to their big day (Will everyone make it? Will it rain? Does my dress still fit?!), pandemic brides had one of the most stressful concerns of all: Will my wedding even happen?

For many, the vision they had in their mind—whether big and beautiful or small and sweet with their loved ones—became a socially distanced ceremony on Zoom.

In short, not everything they hoped it would be.

While we can't turn back the clock for everyone, we are so happy to be doing it for one wonderful couple: Jess and David.

The two met in 2016, and David proposed about a year and a half later. After that, Jess finished nursing school, while David self-trained as a chef (watching Rachael to help!). At the start of 2020, they both scored their dream jobs—Jess as a nurse, David as a line cook—but just a few weeks in, the pandemic hit. Jess became a nurse treating the unthinkable, while David was laid off. And their wedding? While not put on hold like many couples', it was quite lonely, as the only other person in attendance was their officiant.

"It was pretty hard to not have my family there because even if you don't imagine a huge wedding, you always imagine having the people closest to you there," Jess says. "So it was just hard to have them on a laptop."

"We literally got married, went home, changed," adds the frontline worker, who wore a $30 dress bought online, as all her local stores were closed, and carried faux flowers, as the florists weren't open either. "I washed my makeup off, and we both went off to work that day."

As for Jess' beautiful wedding dress and David's custom suit this time around? Jess' dress was designed by Michelle Roth, exclusively for Kleinfeld, and David's suit is a Joseph Abboud 3-piece custom suit from Men's Wearhouse. His Stacy Adams shoes, Promo Uomo shirt, Joseph Abboud tie and Pronto Uomo pocket square are also from Men's Wearhouse.

"Never got to go on a honeymoon," she adds. "We're still hoping that down the line, maybe one day, we can plan something."

Well, on that front, at least, we can be especially of use! Not only did we bring in our good friends, Mary Giuliani and David Burtka, to help whip this wedding redo into gorgeous shape—and make a wedding cocktail and BBQ Pulled Pork Nachos for the reception—we also surprised Jess and David with a honeymoon. They're getting five days at The Lodge at Woodloch (one of Rach's favorite places!), including meals, a couples spa treatment, cooking demos and outdoor adventures.
