You can't really have a summer get-together without ice cream, so we're checking in with ice cream expert and founder of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, Jeni Britton Bauer.
She's sharing her go-to way to serve everyone's favorite frozen treat this summer — and we have a feeling it's about to become your new obsession.

Pull out your cheese boards, knives and spreaders… then walk right past the dairy aisle and into the frozen section. Pick up a few pints of ice cream and a variety of toppings and bases, and you're ready to try Jeni's trendy ice cream sundae board idea.
The ice cream entrepreneur loves to make sweet crackers — sort of like dessert croutons — out of a sliced baguette or even a croissant. That's right, no bowls necessary!
Think cheese boards, but for dessert. Sundae boards are a no-fail way for your guests to sample a bunch of different flavor combos. Plus, they're totally customizable.

See what we mean?
"The best thing about sundae boards is that you can use all sorts of ingredients," Jeni says. "Something warm, something crunchy, something frozen… and you get all of these amazing textures going on."
Some ideas for toppings include rainbow or chocolate sprinkles, mini marshmallows, warm caramel sauce, hot fudge, strawberries, blueberries, peanuts, walnuts and pecans — but there really is no limit to what you can include.
Another unique ingredient Jeni recommends for your spread? Popcorn!
"You can make a caramel corn sort of situation," she says. (Does that not sound amazing?!)

"We've got everything you could possibly think of to make the perfect bite," Jeni says, "and now, the fun part begins."
Since these are in the style of cheese boards, Jeni likes to use actual cheese knives in the place of spoons or scoops.=
"You start with actual cheese knives, put those in (pints of ice cream) like they're cheese and invite some friends to come and build a sundae," she says.
The possibilities are endless — and because they're just bites, you can try as many as you like!
Jeni demos a bite-sized turtle sundae: A croissant crouton topped with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, a drizzle of caramel and a pecan.
For another non-traditional twist, serve alongside Rachael's Funky Monkey Banana Splits.
Are sundae boards about to become the new cheese boards? Because we're not mad at the idea!
