Want to look younger without doing pricey treatments at the dermatologist or plastic surgeon’s office? Don't we all! We tried out three devices and potions with NYC dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe that claim to turn back the hands of time in the comfort of your own home.

Problem Area: Crow’s Feet
Product: WrinkleMD
Price: $199 for one month supply plus Magnetic Pod with Activator Pod and 1 oz. Youth Serum. For optimal results, three months of continuous use is recommended (results may vary).

This is a device that claims to use pods to deliver anti-aging ingredients into the skin. Dr. Bowe explains that the Activator Pod contains a Microprocessor and Battery which uses microcurrents to push hyaluronic acid into the skin and simultaneously smooth.

“I’m such a science dork so this fascinates me,” she says. “Instead of just putting on a cream or serum on the surface of the skin, the theory is that this helps anti-aging ingredients penetrate a little bit deeper.”

Problem Area: Thinning Eyelashes
Product: Mascara with Lash Fibers
Price: Less than $20.

Who knew thinning hair can occur not only on your head, but even your eyelashes! Dr. Bowe explains that eyelash growth has four stages: growth, resting, shedding and re-growth, and your lashes continuously cycle through these stages. As we age, eyelash follicles can slow or stop producing new lashes altogether, she adds.

On top of that, Dr. Bowe says, “If you wear eye makeup and you rub the eye makeup [off at the end of the day], any trauma, any friction is actually going to slow down the ability of your follicles to produce hairs.”

For thicker-looking lashes, she recommends trying a type of mascara with fibers made from green tea leaves to help physically bulk up your lashes.

Problem Area: Age Spots
Product: Dr. Jart’s Pore Minimalist Black Charcoal Sheet Mask
Price: $35 per package of five. For best results, instructions recommend using once per week.

One of Dr. Bowe’s favorite ways to combat pollution (which she says can speed up skin aging) is with charcoal masks. She explains that charcoal helps bind to impurities and pollution particles on the skin.
