Celebrity nutritionist Keri Glassman has been helping us nourish our bodies and brains for years. "Fueling your body properly can help your mental clarity, memory, and ability to focus," she explains. Recipes she's developed to promote brain health include her Overnight Oats, Cherry Tomato Bruschetta and this easy salad with three kinds of beans (feel free to make substitutions and mix in herbs, vegetables, etc.). 

"Beans are loaded with magnesium, and magnesium is linked to calm feelings," she says. "I was actually voted the most stressed in my high school yearbook! So, yes, I love foods that can help calm those nerves. And beans can be great for that!"  

Ingredients

  • One 15-ounce can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • One 15-ounce can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
  • One 15-ounce can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • ¼ red onion, chopped
  • 1/3 cup red wine vinegar (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Serves: 8 to 12

Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl.
