Here's a stat we love to see!
Under their Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation, Ayesha and Stephen Curry have constructed and maintained — count 'em — 150 Little Town Libraries, those adorable little standing libraries that almost look like mini treehouses.
"We've just activated our Learn pillar and we really wanted to lean into literacy," Ayesha explains. "The literacy rates have been low, but the pandemic has shifted that in a negative direction. And it's gotten so much worse."
Ayesha says that she and Steph discovered, "Oftentimes, it's not that kids don't have a joy for reading. It's that there's no access to books — to age-appropriate books."
But thanks to Ayesha and Stephen, there are now many more kids' books in the Oakland area to choose from.
