It's that time of year! Allergy season is upon us once again. We called upon our friend Dr. Ian Smith to share his tips for surviving those pesky springtime allergy symptoms.

And if you've never experienced allergies around this time, that doesn't necessarily mean you won't feel the effects of pollen and other allergens in the air this year.

Wait, are allergies something that can develop at any point in your life?

This is a common question (even Rach had to ask), so what's the deal? Well, according to Dr. Ian, the answer is yes!

"People think you're always born with allergies — and most people are — but as you grow older, you can actually get allergies," he says.

The doc explains that there's something called the major histocompatibility complex (MHC). This can change as you get older, which could make you allergic to things you weren't as a kid.

"You have to always be mindful that just because you weren't allergic before, you could be allergic to something now," Dr. Ian adds.

As always, consult your doctor if you have any questions about existing or potential allergies.
