Let's face it—a lot of the time, you marvel at a professional designer's holiday decor and just assume you can't pull it off yourself.
Not when it comes to "Queer Eye" star and home designer Bobby Berk's, though!
The co-host of "Blown Away: Christmas" on Netflix is showing us how to pull off one of the hottest trends of the season: the asymmetrical holiday mantel. (He also showed us how to make a minimalist Christmas wreath with an embroidery hoop—learn how here.)

A beaut, right?!
And very easy to DIY, too. All you need to do is source seven easily-found things—some of which you may already have at home—starting with the "light bouncer."
1. Gold Circle Mirror
"A mirror is going to make your space look bigger and it's going to bounce light all over the place," says Bobby. The "Fab Five" member says you can go with any shape (though we picked a round one like his!) and you don't even have to hang it. Just lean it against the wall, keeping it hole-free (🙏), and you're off to the races! (That must be one of the "reindeer games," right?)

2. Holiday-Ready Garland
Now here's where the asymmetry comes in! While Bobby says he loves symmetry in design, he decided to embrace the asymmetrical design this holiday season for his mantel, specifically with his garland. (Notice how he draped it off to one side?)
You can go real or faux, he says, and should you choose faux, there's an option below!

3. Neutral-Hued Stockings
Not really into the whole red-and-white palette? Not a problem, says Bobby! Your stockings can absolutely be neutral-hued, like these burlap beauties.

4. Battery-Operated Twinkle Lights
That teeny little shimmer? So pretty! Plus, as Bobby notes, while traditional Christmas lights have a bit of a thicker green wire, twinkle light wires tend to be quite thin, so you can't even see them tucked in your garland — just the twinkle.

5. Pillar Candles at Different Heights
Because when is candlelight not the right answer?! Since they'll be placed in and around your garland, Bobby recommends going battery-operated on these, too, to be extra safe. (The below is a wallet-friendly set of nine!)

6. Beaded Wood Garland
For a light vintage touch, Bobby added beaded wooden garland into his display. And not only is it retro, but it can be very affordable, too.

7. Shimmering Round Ornaments
Last, but not least, what Christmas display is complete without the iconic round Christmas ornament? You probably already have some in your home, but if not, this metallic set boasts 34 balls for $17—less than 50 cents an ornament!
