We're talking dinner party dos and don'ts today with top NYC event planner Jove Meyer — and he's sharing a double-duty DIY that is a definite do.
Obviously we're here for any party decorating hack that saves us time, but especially when it comes to hosting a dinner party. That's why dessert décor is such a great idea: quick and easy prep before your friends and family members arrive means less running back and forth to the kitchen and more quality time spent with your guests.
You will need:
- Apple slices
- Lollipop sticks
- Melted chocolate
- Caramel sauce (optional)
- Honey (optional)
- Toppings of your choice
Poke the apple slices with the lollipop sticks (you can find these at most craft stores) and dip them in the melted chocolate. If you have guests who don't like chocolate or you just want more of a variety, you can use caramel sauce or honey, Jove says. Before the chocolate hardens, coat in crunchy candy toppings of your choice.
You can dip the apples in pretty much anything you want. Think of it like the perfect bite of a candy apple — one that won't break your teeth. Some topping ideas include chocolate chunks, white chocolate chips, crushed peanuts, almond slivers, coconut flakes, crushed graham crackers, orange and brown sprinkles and crushed Oreos.
Put the finished desserts into mason jars filled with multi-colored corn kernels and place at intervals along your table.
