Eggs aren’t the only thing that have been harder to find lately. Shortages of popular over-the-counter medications like Tylenol and Motrin have recently been affecting parents and their little ones.
“It's tough," says family doctor and health expert Dr. Jen Caudle of Sewell, New Jersey. "These are medications that help us feel better, especially with COVID, the flu, and so many other things."
"If you can't find name-brand Tylenol or Motrin, you can look for the generics," says Dr. Jen. "I think they're a really great option."
She notes that the generic for Tylenol is acetaminophen, while the generic for Motrin is ibuprofen.
But which should you use? "Acetaminophen helps reduce pain and fever," Dr. Jen explains. "Ibuprofen helps reduce pain and fever as well, but also has the added benefit of reducing inflammation, which is awesome!"
