Listen up, ladies and gents! Forget what you've heard or seen in the movies about peeing on a jellyfish sting.

It won't help to ease the pain, family physician and associate professor at Rowan University in New Jersey Dr. Jen Caudle says.

"Urinating on a jellyfish sting can actually make it burn more," Dr. Jen tells us. "It can make it worse." Ouch! (Not to mention it's a bit awkward too, no?)

"Some people recommend using [distilled white] vinegar," the doc goes on. Or you can keep it simple and use cold water to help alleviate the pain.
