Is there such a thing as work-life balance, or is it just a meaningless phrase people throw around? Well, it's actually a little bit of both, according to self-made millionaire Barbara Corcoran.
When people ask Shark Tank's resident boss lady about work-life balance, she's the first to admit that she doesn't even shoot for it. "It's like chasing the holy grail," she says.
"But, how do you feel a sense of control, like you're not drawn out and split? You have your family at home … [and] you have your family at work — your colleagues, the people that report to you — you want to take care of them [all]," Barbara continues.

Well, the "shark" has a very specific way of dealing with this rivalry so that it doesn't pull her apart — she separates her family from her work and her work from her family.
"My kids wouldn't dare call me at work," Barbara reveals. This might sound harsh, but the same goes for her colleagues contacting her once she's gone home to focus on her family. Unless it's a major emergency, there's an understanding that her work life stays at work and her home life stays at home.
"I feel like I'm present with my work and present with my family," she says. And really, that's all any of us can aim for!
