Great skin isn’t just about what products you use or what expensive treatments you get. It’s also about what you eat!
Celeb dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe should know, because she has just about the best-looking skin we’ve ever seen. Now, she’s revealing her beauty-boosting menu and explaining why you should be chowing down on these foods too.
Breakfast
Coffee: Dr. Bowe says, “Coffee has been shown to actually reduce your risk of skin cancer.”
Cinnamon: She adds a pinch of cinnamon to her coffee, because she says, “It boosts circulation and blood flow to the skin.”

Eggs: Dr. Bowe says the protein in eggs are great and they also help keep her skin firm. She adds spinach, which she says helps to keep her hair thick.

Avocado: This omega-3-fatty-acid-rich-food “helps to trap moisture in the skin,” according to Dr. Bowe.

Go-To Beverage
Kombucha: She drinks this fermented probiotic-laden tea throughout her day, because, “Probiotics have been shown to be really great for healthy, radiant skin.”
Lunch
Salad: She eats a big salad with greens, chicken and nuts, topped with oil and vinegar.
Dinner
Fish: Dr. Bowe eats a piece of fish, with roasted veggies and quinoa on the side.

Red Wine: Dr. Bowe loves pouring herself a glass of wine, explaining, “It’s loaded with resveratrol, which is a powerful anti-aging ingredient for the skin.”
Dessert
Berries: They taste great, but can they help you look good too? Dr. Bowe says, “Berries are loaded with antioxidants, they’re so good for your skin.”

Dark Chocolate: Not only does this satisfy your chocolate cravings, but it’s also “awesome for your skin,” according to Dr. Bowe.
So now you know what Dr. Bowe eats -- but what she doesn’t eat might be equally important when it comes to her skin.

4 Foods Dr. Bowe Says You Should Skip
Juice: Juice is loaded with sugar, which is a big no-no for Dr. Bowe. “Sugar binds your collagen, breaks it down and leads to premature aging,” she explains.

Diet Sodas: She skips this because artificial sweeteners are “terrible for your skin.”
Light Salad Dressing: She explains, “I don’t like to use low-fat dressings because when they take out the fat, they add in sugar."
White Bread: Pass on the bread basket! “Refined carbohydrates are not good for the skin,” Dr. Bowe says.
