Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (I use Cake Boss Chocolate Trifecta)
  • 1 can cream cheese frosting
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter, creamy/smooth
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons milk
  • 6 cups chocolate-covered pretzels, 2 cups crushed and 4 cups left whole
  • Whole peanuts
  • Chocolate shavings

Yield

Serves: 10-12

Preparation

For the cake: Follow instructions for store-bought chocolate cake mix to yield either two 9-inch cake layers or three 6-inch cake layers. Set aside on wire rack and allow to cool before removing from pans.

For the frosting: In a medium mixing bowl, mix together the can of cream cheese frosting and peanut butter. Add milk, gradually adding in until desired consistency.

To assemble the cake, place one cake layer onto a turntable and frost the top completely. Sprinkle crushed pretzels and chocolate shavings in between the layers. Continue this process up unto second or third layer.

Proceed to frost sides and top with remaining frosting. Around the edges of the cake’s top, sprinkle whole peanuts and chocolate shavings in a circle. Gently press the whole chocolate-covered pretzels shavings into the sides of the cake.
