Top Chef Richard Blais shares an easy recipe for a creamy avocado tartar sauce that goes great with fish sticks or on burgers and sandwiches

  • 1 avocado, pitted, peeled and smashed or diced small
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise or yogurt (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tablespoon diced gherkins
  • 1 tablespoon capers in brine, drained and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chopped jalapeño (optional)
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste


Serves: 2 to 3


Using a rubber spatula, gently stir together all ingredients until thoroughly combined.
