Rach's husband John shakes up a citrusy sparkling cognac cocktail inspired by a classic drink, the French 75.
John was inspired to name his twist on the classic cocktail "French 50," because his and Rach's friend Curtis "50" Jackson (who was on the show the day John made this!) makes a cognac and champagne that John and Rach love.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces Cognac or brandy
- 1 ounce lemon juice, plus 2 lemon twists, for garnish
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- A few dashes orange bitters, optional
- Champagne, for topping
Yield
Serves: 2
Preparation
In a cocktail shaker, combine cognac, lemon juice, simple syrup and, if using, bitters. Fill with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into 2 chilled coupes or champagne flutes, then top with champagne. Garnish with lemon twists.
Always drink responsibly.
