John calls this his "James Bond cocktail," but says the shaking is optional. (He prefers to stir his.) The Vesper was the first martini James Bond ordered in Ian Fleming's 1953 book, Casino Royale (and in the 2006 movie of the same name). John created the drink to go with Rach's "Cheater's" Cassoulet Chicken and Sausage with Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ ounces vodka
  • 1 ½ ounces gin
  • 1 ½ ounces Lillet Blanc
  • Lemon twist, for garnish

Yield

Serves: 1

Preparation

Combine the vodka, gin and Lillet Blanc in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and stir to chill (shake to chill if you are serving James Bond). Strain into a chilled martini glass or coupe and garnish with lemon twist.

Always drink responsibly.
