"You could have guessed that watermelon is my favorite fruit, but it's also my favorite fruit to sip on," Senior Culinary Producer Jeanete Donnarumma (a.k.a. the Watermelon Queen) says. "I came up with this technique because it's easy, quick and uses the appliance you all have out on your counters, the trusty blender! Watermelon water is hydrating and delicious on its own, but gets even better when combined with a splash of sparkling water and lime juice." (Like in David Burtka's Watermelon Agua Frescas!) "Add a shot to the classic Aperol Spritz to make it a Watermelon Aperol Spritz! Or use it in this summer favorite, the Watermelon Margarita. Any way you squeeze it, watermelon water is summer in a glass."

Ingredients

  • 1 seedless watermelon (7-8 pounds)

Yield

Serves: 6-7 cups

Preparation

Cut the watermelon in half and score the inside into large squares. Using a large metal spoon, spoon out the inside of the watermelon up to the rind. Working in batches, puree the watermelon in the blender. Strain and serve.
