Football Player Paralyzed Making a Tackle On What He Said To Himself Post-Injury To Stay Positive

Joey Kola is back with another inspiring story in our "Joe and Tell" good news segment. Eric LeGrand, a former Rutgers football player who was paralyzed 10 years ago making a tackle, shares his ongoing recovery journey and explains why he formed Team LeGrand—a fundraising branch of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation—to help find a cure for paralysis.

"I said to myself when I got injured, I'm only 20 years old. God willing I live for many, many more years. I don't want to be upset," Eric says. "You gain a newfound appreciation [of] life when things are taken away from you and you can't do the things you were able to do before. That's why I'm so appreciative and thankful for the things that I can do and that's why I stay so positive and optimistic."

Rach and John surprised Eric with the news that our friends at Almond Breeze are donating $5,000 toward Team LeGrand's fundraising efforts. See his reaction to the good news in the video above.
