Rach and her good friend Emeril Lagasse are joining forces to celebrate the future chefs of tomorrow.
Recently, Rach and Emeril attended the 8th Annual Celebrity Chef Events, an annual fundraiser for the Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington (GLOW)—an all-girls public charter school in North Carolina founded in 2016. GLOW not only provides education to students in underserved communities, they also have a culinary arts program which prepares them for careers in the field.
At the event, Rach, Emeril and the students cooked dishes such as fattoush with tahini ranch dressing including delicious pita chips tossed in a variety of spices.
In addition to answering their questions (such as Rach’s must-have kitchen tools), Rach also taught the students cooking skills including how to chop up herbs.
“The kids are everything. They’re the reason why I’m here. To see how [GLOW has] evolved seven years later is truly amazing,” Emeril says about the school.
